Tasmania – Mt Craddle

The last piece of our Australian puzzle and truly one of the most epic ones. Mt Craddle was a lifetime climb worth remembering.

Posledni kousek z nasi Australske skladacky a jeden z nejuzasnejsich. Mt Craddle je jeden z zivotnich vystupu, ktere nikdy nezapomenem.

Tassie is a land of wild and sometimes weird animals. During the night before Mt Craddle we had a surprising visit from mr. Possum who decided to explore our car. Let me tell you that possums are quite heavy and their landing on the car’s roof is very noticeable. But in the end I think that he was more surprised to see me πŸ™‚

ss

And yet another wild animal encouter has happened on our bike way towards Mt Craddle. After arriving to Tassie we became huge fans of echidnas. They are just awesome, the way they walk, how they are shy… Just everything they do is legendary.

This guy had to be some celebrity because he wasn’t shy at all and kept posing to us, was not interrupted during his/hers breakfast. In the end we spent like 20 minutes with this pointy guy. Worth it!

ss

As with rest of Tassie – you need a lot of time to properly explore. Mt Craddle is no difference and if you are serious about this trail jewel you need at least few days to enjoy all the tracks. Unfortunately we had only one day and we opted for the steep climb and then enjoy slower and easier descent. Wise choice in the end!

ss

Mentioning to bring a lot of water is quite pointless, just look at the photo πŸ™‚ It’s steep, tough, terrain changes all the time. All the characteristics of a proper and challenging trail. That’s the way we like it!
The time estimate is somewhat not accurate at the beginning and start to think that we will reach the summit easily.

ss

The final part becomes more climb than trail and we feel like monkeys and rock climbers. It takes some getting use to this but after a while we start to freaking enjoy this because it’s total pleasure. There are no small stones, everything holds together and you just focus on the climb.

The Summit

And yet another mountain that proves to us that the climb is actually more enjoyable then the summit. Summit is totally crowded by two groups of asians who brought up heaps of potato chips and their phones. And for approx 1 hour they keep eating the chips and taking endless selfies. They are loud and annoying. Fortunately Tomino has the unique ability to zone out to his happy place where there are no potato chips or other distractions. Muhaha!

ss

The descent through the big rocky section is pure and total joy. Tomino goes barefoot and just jumps from one rock to other. No worries, no fears, just joy from moving!

The way down is not as epic as the climb but still gives us some nice views.

At the almost end we FINALLY spotted one of the elusive animals that we have been dying to encounter. It is the small “teddy bear” called wombat. Oh yea, he’s damn cute. Not dangerous like his (much) bigger cousins and very very shy in fact. We could spot it only from distance but mwhaha it was an epic finish to our Tassie adventure.

ss

Mt Craddle is a must for any Tassie traveler. You know it and we all know it. It is part of the legendary Overland track but if you are not lucky enough to squeeze yourself in the tight reservations you can make yourself equally happy with couple of days at Mt Craddle.

Vecernicek od Possuma

Possumove sou takovy prerostly veverky, sedivy lisky a neco mezi kockou a vykukem. Proste takovej trochu divnej ale roztomilej plysak. A kdyz takhle usinate a najednou se zhoupne cele auto.. To je docela adrenalin! Ospalej vylejzam s fotakem a nachazim tohodle mamrda. Nastesti to neni nase prvni setkani a uz se nam to stalo vickrat. Sou to zvedavi posuci a nase zabaleny veci na zahradce sou pro ne opravdu zajimavy. Kdyz ho blejskam tak mu to ani nevadi a skoro i pozuje! Muhaha!

ss

Tasmanie nam to cele vynahrazuje a jezuru uz sme parkrat potkali. Fuf… A tak s ni travime snad 20 minut, no proste dokonalost!

ss

ss

Neco nehraje!

ss

Tohle nehraje! Teda vlastne hraje!

ss
Tomino dohopkal a potrebuju voraz!

ss

My se vratime πŸ™‚

PS Posledni fotka v galerii je wombat! Strasne sme ho chteli potkat a na zpatecni ceste k autu sme ho zahlidli! Prejte si cokoliv a splni se vam to!
